Children are very welcome on our walks, but any child taking part in any RA activity must be accompanied by an immediate adult family member (parent, elder sibling, or grandparent). If a child is accompanied by someone who is not an immediate family member then that person must be able to demonstrate that they have authorisation to act in loco parentis. Such authorisation could take the form of a letter, or independent verification from others in the party. This is important as only someone holding parental responsibility for a child can consent to medical treatment for a child whilst the child is participating in a specified activity. Please ensure that the walk is suitable for children by contacting the walk leader in advance of the walk.
Note: A child is anyone under the age of 16
